Questions Proposed and Approved By The Knox County Charter Review Committee
Question 8: Shall Section 5.05 of the Knox County Charter, regarding Teacher Tenure, be amended by striking the language of the Section in its entirety and substituting the following:
Knox County adopts the Tennessee teacher tenure statutes. All employees of the Knox County School System not covered by the Tennessee teacher tenure statutes or separate contract shall be considered employees at will.

According to Knox News (a potentially biased paper):
Likewise, amendment proposals adopting the Tennessee tenure statutes for employees of the Knox County school system ... bring the charter up to date.
